Latest PieceInspired by Caliban & the Witch, an incredible book on the genesis of capitalism & it's essential use of primitive accumulation that Women's, Black, Indigenous & Queer bodies have been the forefront of.
Sylvia Federici goes into depths about the Witch hunts, a new sexual division of labor, & the denaturalization of the body as a means for domesticating & manipulating the proletariat class into enslavement for profit. Growing up in the result of this era, we were armed w/ a frame of consciousness that we have to constantly to unpack & reject. An important aspect of this for me & most women I know is the criminalization of the reproductive body. I was introduced to sex in a hetero-normative non-consensual way & had been robbed of an orgasm during a mutual physical union until I was 24 - a full decade since my first experience. My body is constantly objectified & lusted over & I am taking it back. With this, acknowledging the privilege that exists in my body - being white & skinny. I encourage everyone to read this book & fight for their autonomy along w/ the autonomy of others - in solidarity, always. |
